A preview of Meghan Markle’s upcoming children’s book reveals that Prince Harry and his son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, inspired more than intrigue.
An illustration of the father and child appears on the inside page of The bench, The Duchess of Sussex’s Family Reading, out this month.
A preview of the inside cover of the book was shared by American photographer Gray Malin, who received a draft copy from the former actress’ office.
The artist, who is known to be a friend of the Duchess, uploaded two short videos to his personal Instagram account of the book, which will be released on Tuesday, June 8.
“I received royal mail. Congratulations on your new book, M!” Malin captioned the first clip, which shows the cover of The bench.
In a second video, a personal note signed by Meghan is pinned above an illustration of a bearded Prince Harry holding the hand of a red-haired Archie.
“From parent to parent – all my love from my family to yours. As always, Meghan,” the note from the Duchess, 39, read.
A note attached to the cover added: “With compliments from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s office. Please enjoy the advanced copy on behalf of Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.”
The bench, which was first announced last month, centers on the relationship between a father and son, based on Prince Harry and Archie, 2.
“The bench started out as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born. This poem became that story, ”the Duchess said as she revealed the book.
“My hope is that The bench resonates in all families, whatever their makeup, as much as mine. “
The book, illustrated by artist Christian Robinson, will also be accompanied by an audio book narrated by Meghan.
The Duchess and Prince Harry, 36, are expecting their second child, a girl due to be born this summer.
Since stepping down as senior members of the British Royal Family this year, Meghan and Prince Harry have announced a series of plans through their company Archewell.
Last year, the couple signed an exclusive, multi-year, £ 100million ($ 135million) production deal with Netflix and also partnered with audio streaming giant Spotify for podcasts. In March, Prince Harry also became impact manager for the American mental health and coaching firm BetterUp.
