The Tennessee Volunteers fell 41-34 to the Pittsburgh Panthers in the first “Johnny Majors Classic”. Despite the Vols’ ability to take a 10-point lead earlier, Pittsburgh took advantage of the opportunities and capitalized in the second quarter, taking a 27-20 halftime lead. Although Hendon Hooker made noise in the second half after replacing injured Joe Milton for quarterback, allowing too many successful Pitt commands, resulting in too many penalties, injuries and too many turnovers thwarted the attempt return flights.
